Welcome

Welcome to Rubi Audiology, we are proud to introduce our new Test Rod for Bone Conductive Hearing Loss instruments.

We use The Ewing Foundation for external audiology and technical enquiries, and they have also contributed to the development of an innovative new bone conduction test rod to allow professionals in education and parents of young people to monitor types of Bone Conduction hearing aids.

The B&H Test Rod

Better by Design and Experience

“In the role of a Learning Support Assistant in a primary school environment, the BHTR was extremely beneficial in supporting a child in checking both the connection and clarity in audio between the BAHA-5 Band and Multi-Microphone. As a user of the product without a history of working with hearing support equipment, the test rod was easy to use and effective in troubleshooting possible problems occurring with both the cochlear equipment and the classroom environment. I would recommend this accessible equipment to any provider that supports children with additional educational needs surrounding hearing loss.”

It is compatible with both the Oticon Medical and Cochlear Bone Anchored/Conductive devices. Known colloquially as ‘the glowstick’, orders for the Bath and Harris Test Rod (BHTR) can be placed directly with Rubi Audiology from September 2022 or local authorities receiving support and training can order through The Ewing Foundation.

Be sure to visit our easy to navigate shop. If you are a corporate business or a local authority looking to raise a purchase order, please contact us and we can accommodate.

Affordable and Efficient

“There are many advantages to using the BHTR” says Paul Harris. “It is affordable, easy to hold, easy to clean, and, because of its additional length, can be positioned close to the ear canal for better clarity and reduced acoustic feedback”

He also notes that the BHTR’s bright colour makes it difficult to lose

"The BHTR has been an excellent tool to use. It has enabled staff working closely with a pupil to check connection with the Multi Mic and provided a way of hearing through the Baha. This is great for younger children and children with additional needs in particular who may not be able to verbalise or articulate any issues. The bright colour of the test rod is also really useful in that it helps to be visible and less likely to get misplaced in a working classroom environment. This is a tool I would be keen to use for all Bahas users on my caseload and it also demonstrates the impact of noise in the classroom when used by teachers and LSAs."

Proud to Give Back

The first batch of BHTR will retail at under £40 each and a donation will be made to The Ewing Foundation to support their work with deaf children, young people and their teachers.

The Ewing Foundation is a national charity, promoting inclusion and achievement for deaf children through listening and speaking.
